Policies and Fees

Sessions

I work with adults of all ages, adolescents/teens, couples, and families. Individual sessions are typically 60 minutes, and couple or family counseling sessions may be longer. Initially, I recommend meeting on a weekly basis. The duration of treatment depends on various factors, including your goals, commitment, session frequency, the complexity of the issues you’re addressing, and how long you’ve been experiencing them. Both short-term and long-term therapy have their benefits, and we will collaboratively determine the approach that best suits your needs.

Fees

Please contact me to discuss rates. While I have standard fees, I offer a sliding scale on a limited basis for those in financial need. If you have financial concerns but are committed to your personal growth, reach out to explore whether we can find an arrangement that works for both of us.

Insurance

I do not accept HMO, Medicaid, or Medicare insurance for payment. However, if you have a PPO health plan, your insurance provider may reimburse a percentage of what you have already paid. Please contact your provider to confirm if they cover services rendered by an ‘out-of-network Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.’ I can provide a monthly statement for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that most insurance carriers require a diagnosed mental health disorder to qualify for coverage and reimbursement.
Please check your insurance coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
  • What are my mental health benefits? Do I need to meet a deductible?
  • What is the coverage amount or percentage per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover per calendar year?
  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
Your insurance company representative may also request the CPT codes for services. The CPT code for a 50-minute individual psychotherapy session is 90834, and for a 75-minute session, it is 90837. For conjoint (couples) or family psychotherapy, the CPT code is 90847.

Payment Methods

I accept payments via cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal. If you prefer to pay by credit card, please note that an additional 3.5% will be added to your fee.

Cancellation Policy

Consistency is an essential ingredient for successful therapy. However, I understand that sometimes unexpected circumstances may prevent you from keeping your scheduled appointment. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify me as soon as possible. Missed appointments or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a full session fee. Your understanding and courtesy are greatly appreciated.

Information on receiving a Good Faith Estimate (GFE):

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, CA clients visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. TN clients visit  https://www.tn.gov/commerce/blog/2022/1/12/the-no-surprises-act-will-protect-tennessee-consumers.html.
